i might not be the first one to post about it, but i got the new rush dvd on blu ray and watch it on my ps3. its so cool hi def!!!

After watching VHS tapes all those years, it is awesome to see Rush (or any blu ray live show) in Hi def. They really spent some time planning how this would be made and it shows.

i like the song choices too!!! trust me, try to see this rush "snakes and arrows live : blu ray if u can. geddy is all fendered out i even think he has 1 fretless he plays on an instrumental, it has lines. looks like a jaco bass color. ( sunburst ) i forgot the name maybe malignant narcissicism song ?

his red fender j and geddy j also.

Yes you're correct. I was at one of those concerts and geddy has two jaco tribute basses that he plays once in a while. One is fretted and the other is fretless. I thought it was cool that he decided to use one of those for Malignant Narcissism...

I got the DVD for Christmas and just watched it last night for the first time. I also noticed the fretless in that tune. I have to say, it didn't sound very fretless to me - if I hadn't been watching, I might not have known.

Also, who is Alex trying to fool with all of those "background vocals"?

I'm guessing that the effects he uses distort the fretless sound a bit... but if you listen closely you can tell that it sounds a bit different from his other J bass...
