I don't know who's going to be in the lineup. An old freind of mine is Phil Collin's drum roadie, and he's gearing up for the tour now. I don't know what thier schedule is like, but if it's like Collins last world tour, they'll be humpin. I don't even know if they are doing any US dates. I'll try to find out more when I see him again.

There are several clips available on YouTube currently that show the Genesis reunion press conference from late last year. It will be the trio formation (Phil, Mike and Tony). I was pretty disappointed, as there has been talk for ages now of the five-piece getting back together for a reunion tour most likely this year. It seems now that such a plan is unlikely ever to happen.

The trio years still produced some great music, though. Hopefully they'll play a varied set featuring a mix of their mainstream pop smashes along with the more interesting, pseudo-prog pieces. During that press conference, Tony Banks didn't go into too much detail about the possible setlist for the upcoming tour. But, he did hint at covering many facets of their career.

I'm not sure who the additional tour supporting musicians will be. It's a pretty good bet, though, that it will be Darryl and Chester.

Anyone out there have any more details about this?

There was some rehearsal / jam footage kicking around a few weeks ago, and Darryl and Chester were there. The song was 'Land of Confusion'.

I thought about going, but.. I saw the We Can't Dance tour twice and on the strength of that (and the record) I decided they'd jumped the shark.

Obviously this means that the setlist for this tour is going to be incredible. Just my luck.

This will rock.
But most shows are sold out already, at least around here: the one in Denmark sold out in 40 minutes ... I've been told.

Anyway. Here's a summary of the press conference, liberally quoted from The Movement.
Quote:
Press Conference Summary;
- Doing it for fun, not money
- Line-up is Phil/Mike/Tony/Daryl/Chester
- 20 shows in Europe, 20 in US (TBA)
- Rehearsing songs back to 1973
- Originally planned on Lamb tour with Peter
- Setlis to include a couple of medleys
- Not planning on playing Supper's Ready
- No CAS material being played
- Encore series not yet discussed
- Rome show will be free show for 300,000 people
- German shows on sale 10th Nov, UK 24th Nov. Others TBA
- SACDs releases to be March 2007 (Trick - Abacab), June/July 2007 (Genesis - CAS), Fall/Winter 2007 / Spring 2008 (Tresspass - Lamb)

Unfortunately, judging from Mike Rutherford's comments in this month's MOJO magazine, it seems like we won't be hearing Eleventh Earl of Mar.

He's not a fan, by all accounts...
