Gig sound files of my basses

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey Folks,

So, I record a fair number of gigs to see if I'm really hearing what I think I'm hearing. I finally got around to editing and compiling, so if this is of any value to my low note brothers and sisters, enjoy! Each link has some information about the instrument itself, along with a number of mp3 files.

MTD 535

MTD 635-24

Roscoe SKB3006 fretless

Sadowsky M5-24

NOTES:
- Please excuse the shoddy HTML and some of the dead links (should you choose to click any of them). I use the bassguy.org site to host media files and as a (foggy) mirror of my main website.

- The mix is bass-heavy since the recorder is very close to my rig. Sometimes there's ambient noise, sometimes the mix is actually (accidentally?) very even and clean. Hopefully each file gives a representation of the sound of the instrument in the context of the gig setting.

- As noted, I use my trusty old M-Audio Microtrack 24/96 (with the stock stereo mic, no less) to do the recordings. For editing - and it doesn't get much more simple than this - I use Audacity to crop, fade, occasionally amplify, create tags, and then export to 128-bit mp3's. I've made a few attempts here and there to normalize the output, but you'll likely notice subtle volume differences between most files.

- I'm totally open for feedback. As always, if you like the sound, credit the bass. If you don't, blame the bassist.

I like what I'm hearing! Good job! I think you've got some nice basses they really seem to work well for your style of playing. And I like how the mix turned out bass heavy, I think it sounds really good that way! Great playing, too, nice and solid.

Now that's what I call a tone orgy.

Nice work. All of it.

Nice

Great tone. I rarely hear that type on sound coming from live setups. Really like your playing style too. Actually the whole band sounds great. You are lucky indeed.
