Have you studies double bass? |
I studied viola in undergrad and violin in graduate school, so that's where most of my left hand technique came from. I teach orchestra in MS and HS, so I have learned double bass over my teaching career from teaching materials, DVDs, teacher workshops, etc. Unfortunately, I have not had the opportunity to study the double bass with a teacher myself, but maybe someday. My son is playing double bass in college symphony right now, and taking lessons with the bass teacher.
I do use flat wound D'Addarrio Chromes on my electric bass. They feel good, like double bass strings. I play mostly jazz when gigging on bass, so I don't need to have the round wound strings for slappin' and poppin' or grinding out rock.
