"Goblin - Profondo Rosso" tone question Hello, I'd like to know how the bassplayer gets his tone out of this song. I think these are flatwounds played with a pick (there is a lot of attack), and there might be an effect on it, but I don't know which one. Is there anyone who could help out? link to the song on youtube http://youtu.be/ggxm8aO-uU8 Thanks in advance. |
Huge fan of Goblin here... I was lucky enough to catch them when they played in London a couple of years ago. Fabio was playing a horseshoe Rickenbacker throughout, jus a heavenly tone. Not sure what he played on Profondo Rosso, sounds to my ears very similar to his tone on Roller, and the sleeve notes to that say he played a 'Ripper bass' - so possibly a Gibson Ripper? Although it doesn't sound like a Gibson to me... As for the effect, I used to have a little Zoom multi-effects (the red one with the silver dials) and that had the very sound within as a stock preset. Can't recall for the life of me what it was called but I know I just kept playing Snip Snap with it :bassist: |
There's a slight hint of Phaser on that bass. |
I just tried it with a phaser, and I think you're right. Many thanks! |
Sounds like flatwound strings too. Davo |
