Wasn't really sure where to put this... I got 8th row! The anticipation's killing me, and I thought I'd ask fellow TB'ers, how are they live?

Tool is my favorite band... They put on a very good show, but it didn't blow my mind as I assumed it would. Worth the money, but don't over hype yourself as I did.

tool

It all depends on how maynard is feeling before and during the show, sometimes he will move around and get into it, or sometimes (like in europe) he will wear a gas mask and just stand there behind a screen the entire time singing through the mask, and all you can see is his shadow.....soo who knows you might get lucky!

Live Justin Chancellor

I saw them for the 10,000 Days tour ... it was phenomenal .

Justins sound live was fantastic . Being a one guitar / bass setup the level was right where you would expect it to be .
Ive tubed some vids and have seen/heard what some folks call his very 'clicky' shows ...but the one I saw in Mansfield Ma was stellar.

On a side note... Im envious ... my guitar players gf had 60 minutes advance ticket purchasing priviledge for a local show ..and missed the window shopping with her sister .. (ouch) ...and Im probably not going here on Aug2 since I doubt I can afford 3rd party ticket company prices .

A real kick in the pants for me .... I play bass in a Tool Tribute band and will probably have to wait until the next cd and tour to see them .

I saw them at The Gorge on the 10,000 days tour and it was epic....one of the best shows of my life. I was in the 3rd row, but I think the show might have actually been better from farther away....the whole stage was a video screen, which was hard to see up close.

They had lasers.

Thought the same thing myself when I saw them for the first time a couple years back. I was literally obsessed w/ them for a long long time then when I finally got the chance to see them, I thought it was rather average. Lots of noise and they even took a break to sit on the stage for about ten minutes. Given, I probably hyped them up in my own mind but I also noticed Adam Jones screw up a couple times, nothing major but it was noticeable. JC's tone was ok, I was sitting about 12 rows back from the stage off to stage left and the sound quality wasn't the best (arena type venue likely to blame). All in all, worth the admission cost and experience but I wouldn't pay to see them again personally.

excellent!

I saw them twice in '07, and I'm going back next week (5th row on left side!!!) One of the better bands out today--a modern day Pink Floyd-type show with excellent sound and visuals...

They really sucked when I saw them because they didn't do Disgustipated, Lipan Conjuring or any of my favorite songs.

Lucky! I've seen Tool twice (on the 10k Days tour), wasn't all that close either time though. Justin Chancellor was great, could hear him fine. The second time I saw them though, Keenan had decent stage presence but his vocals were way down in the mix for some reason--kind of odd. Justin Chancellor and Danny Carey really provide most of the stage show (besides the light show, which was AMAZING)--Adam Jones doesn't move much at all, and even when he's active, Keenan is at the back of the stage. Still amazing shows though, and I really hope to see them again sometime.

Seen them 10 times since 1995. Great sound, great visuals, great show. Only one show sucked, and that was only because the Staples Center makes every band sound like they are covered in giant pillows.

I think Maynard'll be feeling it tonight... After all, he does live in Arizona! On a side note, that's how I met him... he was selling wine from his vineyard, and I bought a signed bottle from him (techninally my dad did). Good time, good times.

Truer words were never spoken. Seeing anyone play in the Staples Center is all relative. Isis opened that show and I've seen them play twice since in smaller venues...they sounded like a whole different band!

Oh yes. That was my first Isis experience after loving them for a few years, thankfully not long after the Stupid Center show we caught them at a tiny bar in San Diego which was one of the greatest aural experiences of my entire life. My neck was more sore the next day than it was after seeing Slayer for the first time back in high school.
