Here are a few songs I like to play on bass. These are good songs to help keep me on my toes. Remember, sometimes less is more, try to keep it in the pocket. Feel free to put up some songs that you like to play, nothing too fancy just fun and groovy. here they is:

She Caught the Katy - Blues Brothers (a little tough)
September - Earth Wind & Fire (classic)
It's Your Thing - The Isley Brothers (groovy)
Pick Up the Pieces - Average White Band (stay in the pocket!)
Brighter Day - Kirk Franklin
Sunday Mornings - Maroon 5 (fun and layd back)
Take On Me - Reel Big Fish (fun n' fast)

and finaly..!

The Happy Feet Soundtrack- suprisingly good bass songs!

Now post some of your favorites. I need some new songs to play!

- Jimi Hendrix's version of "Hey Joe"
- Rod Stewart's "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?"
- The Knack's "My Sharona"
- Pink Floyd's "Young Lust"

iTunes playlist

I keep an iTunes playlist called 'FenderBass'. The contents change occasionally, but usually has some Motown, Zeppelin, Latin, Reggae, Jaco, House or Disco, and Aebersold tracks.

To warm up before leaving the house for a gig, I spend 20-30 minutes playing along with tunes in this list.

Never Can Say Goodbye Jackson Five
Got To Be There The Jackson Five
Crystal Blue Persuasion Tommy James and the Shondells
The Song Remains the Same Led Zeppelin
Ramble On Led Zeppelin
Freddie's Dead Curtis Mayfield
Rhythm of Life Ray Barretto
What's Going On Marvin Gaye
Into the Mystic Van Morrison
Kung Fu Fighting Carl Douglas
Feelin' Love (Instrumental Mix) Soulsearcher
Children Crying The Congos
Soul Intro/The Chicken Jaco Pastorius
