I've always been a fan of fall out boy...nothing really special just some well played bass.
check out dance, dance and sugar we're goin down from their new cd
for some reason AFI was labeled emo when Sing the Sorrow came out (probably because their fan club is called the Despair Faction). But they're more hardcore. However, great, great bass playing right up in there.
Check out Dancing through Sunday off of Sing the Sorrow and Totalimmortal off of the All Hallows EP
For some history check out The Cure. Simon Gallup is the freaking man.
I would surf around purevolume.com in the emo section just for a taste...to see what u got urself into.

If so, the bassline to "Waiting Room" is rather hot. |

Most emo just follows the guitar.

Nate Mendel is a pretty sweet bass player. He played in the Foo Fighters for a while along with the drummer, William Goldsmith. |

Ala Joy Division and The Cure. Peter Hook and Simon Gallup took a melodic approach to bass playing, that fit the depressed style rather well. GET A CHORUS PEDAL!

| | | | The Get Up Kids are another Titan of emo. "Pink Chimneys" by The Promise Ring has some notable bass work. |

Oh yeah, "Sick in Her Skin" is pretty groovy, too. |

A) It's not a trend
B) I've heard a few, OK bass parts
So leave the poor emo kids alone, don't make them cry!
