I don't really know anything about Modest Mouse, but a friend gave me this album a few weeks ago and i've listened to it dozens of times in my car since then. It's really grown on me! I particularly like the bass playing, and his bass tone. This is helped with some very good production. Some of the arrangements are really thoughtful and I dig the whole morbid transcendence vibe I get from this recording.

I have not heard any of their other music, at least not that i'm aware. I do appreciate original and exciting songs though, and this album has a nice handful!
