It's from this video release. Awesome concert. Mike Porcaro is a terrific bassist, but I can't avoid to recall and mention my feelings toward his stage presence.

Wow.....It's SOOOO refreshing to pull up a song and hear......BASS.Bass.Bass.Not a bunch of effects jumbled together.Just pure ,deep,clean bass.All coming from a "lowly"Peavey Bass!!Just goes to show that you don't have to have a lot of these>($$$$0000$$$$)< to have glorious,fat,rich tone.Yes(in case you're wondering),I AM "old-school."Hartley Peavey deserves some kind of award(Bass Pulitzer Prize??),for producing a kick-ass boutique-style/quality bass,that's"within reach",for us "working"musicians.

Love the song, the way the band sounds, and the tone of the bass, but I don't care for that bass riff at about 4:40.

+1, but a new Cirrus isn't that cheap. One like Mike Pocaro was playing probably runs right around $2,000 new if you don't have an endorsers discount.

Used is where a Cirrus is an incredible bargain.

A long time friend of mine has a Peavey endorsement. He gets 50% off list (on Trace gear too). I haven't had him get me anything, yet. Maybe I should go for a Cirrus.

Yes, that is Jeff's brother! Hungate was the original guy while Mike waited in the wings! The original band were all studio cats. I don't think Mike was up to par at the time.

Nice clip and a GREAT song. Thanks for posting. Time to break out some old CDs and listen to them again.

Pushes me to start using my 2 Cirrus more! I changed my Cirrus 4 to GHS bass boomers and it totally changed the sound and feel from great to amazing. They are simply marvelous instruments. For what they go for used, they are a total bargain! The best kept secret in bassdom. My neighbor is a super pro bassist, and she doesn't even know about them.

AND - you get the fantastic Peavey customer service. The best I have experienced. When I have needed parts for my old Foundations from time to time, they have always had them, and even sent me a new nut for free.

mike played with them before they even met hungate. i do believe that mike was up to the standrads because he was a session cat too, but jeff porcaro really wanted hungate.

yeah mike always had a good taste for basses, i think he was one of the first to play tung, tobias and f basses.

I guess I stand corrected. Just did some research and he's played on a lot of stuff outside of Toto.

If I remember correctly he was doing a lot of live TV session work at the time TOTO started to come together. Not to mention he was still in high school.

It's too bad that he has had to retire from playing - his hand "injury" appears to be more of an illness situation. I saw him playing in 2005/2006/2007 with thumb splints and it looked extremely uncomfortable. Hope the guy is doing ok.

Great concert. I have the DVD and it's enjoyable front to finish.

Makes me want to go back to my Peavey as well (TL-Five)

Just saw Duran Duran's Rio on VH1's Classic Albums, and John Taylor uses a Cirrus to demonstrate the bass line from the title track. Sounded really good.

Some Cirrus/Mesa content - www.myspace.com/leftbrainmusic ("rivers" is pretty bass oriented).

I saw Toto live way back in the late 80's... they blew me away! The quality of their performance was simply amazing. the sound was perfect ahd they played their butts off!
Thanks for the clip! It brought back some memories, very pleasnat ones!
The bass on this track sounded perfect to me... ballsy, thumpy growly and articulate... what else could you ask for?
Great band and great clip!
Thanks,
Fishheadjoe
