"Got to be real" - Is it Marcus?

Some people say Marcus Miller played the bass on "Got To Be Real." Is it true? The song has a killer bass line.

The Cheryl Lynn tune?
I recall Chuck Rainey being the bassist...since some here disagreed, I e-mailed Rainey & replied with a lengthy response about that session (Purdie on drums, Bernard Wright on keys...). This was about 10 years ago, I don't believe there's an e-mail link on his site anymore.
IMO, it's Rainey & was typical of what he was doing in the mid-to-late '70s.

The original bassist is David Sheilds. Here is the link with all of the musicians on that album listed track by track. Chuck and Bernard Purdie are on the album but not on "Got To be Real". Bernard Wright is not listed as a musician on the album at all.

David Shields sounds right. There's a great Bill Champlin CD called Single and I'm pretty sure David Shields was on that one too. Very similar bass sound and style. It's been one of my favorite CDs and I think it's worth listening to for any electric bass player even today.
