Anyway...
Take Matt Garrison's solo from Herbie Hancock's Future 2 Future Live - absoltely amazing. Anthony Tidd, of Quite Sane, has a wonderful solo on the track Once as Queens.

on metallica's kill em' all
he has also had other bass solo's/riffs on: ride the lightning and master of puppets
he is the first person i heard do a "bass solo" on a recording but
after reading above posts i'll have to check those out.
*a.k.a.- pulling teeth

Also, anything on Paul Chambers' "Bass On Top". This to me is another essential listen/ own.
Also a shout out to Kim Stone on his "More Often Than Not" CD. Some great bass composition.
There are so many great solos, but those three are a little obscure, so worth bringing to light.

Jeff Berlin: album: Alan Holldsworth Road games - Track 3 i think crazy long solo.
Dave Larue - takes quite a few solo's on any Steve morse band/ Dixie dregs album, usually not too long though. |
