I'm surprised that I couldn't find a thread on this when I searched, so let us right this wrong and compile a list of Great Headphone Albums.

I'll start with Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon

Lots of great music sounds even better through a pair of hi-end headphones. Or even monitors, for that matter. You'll hear things you've never heard before.

But there's a difference between sounding better and being a great headphone album--it really has to do with records that take advantage of the stereo experience to the fullest, though that's probably an oversimplification.

Radiohead's Kid A is a prime example.

Shpongle is BY FAR the greatest audio experience you will ever have. Listen to either Tales of the Inexpressible or Are you Shpongled?.I still cannot get over how intensely awesome it truly is. Master pieces! Make sure you have really good headphones though. Trust me, you don't want to miss this.

No other album does it better than this one. Unfortunately, it is extremely hard to find. I have it in LP format and transferred it to mp3 some years ago. Just in case some of you are interested, just let me know and I'll gladly send you a copy.

A great record! It's fanastic to hear John and Carlos's notes flying back and forth! Add to this John Mclaughlin, Paco De Lucia and Al Di Meola's "Passion Grace and Fire" record, which is also a stereo masterpiece!

Paul Simon's "Graceland" album reveals a lot of wonderful complexities on headphones, with it's multitudes of layers and sounds. As does Rush's "Hold Your Fire".

MY favorite is "Aja" by Steely Dan.

TREMENDOUS use of the spaces in the music.

You can, literally, follow any instrument in any song that you choose.
