Great Hip Hop/Rap Bass lines

Sign in to disble this ad
I've been looking for some great hip hop bass lines but can't seem to find many.

So i was wondering what are some of your guys' favorite hip hop bass lines.
If you could give your top 3, top 5, or even just one i would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Killing Me Softly by The Fugees
Stan (ft. Dido) by Eminem
I'll Be Missing You by P. Diddy
Big Shots by Eyedea and Abilities
The World Is Yours by Nas

Soooo many more. I've been getting into Hip-Hop bass lately, and I'm actually going to record with some artists via Geffen Records (A.K.A. 'Interscope'), which include some people like Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Mickey Avalon, Eminem, Keri Hilson, will.i.am, etc. Studio work is where it's at, and I'm excited to get a call on who I'm recording with first.

Death Row Records had a really good studio bassist. It's not Tupac directly, it's that entire label.

Too bad Suge is a dirtbag.

Would you consider sampling? ATCQ is all sampled basslines, I thought we were talking about original lines. But ATCQ did sample some of the best jazz basslines in history...

Not true. Ron Carter contributed bass on "Verses From The Abstract" from The Low End Theory.

Check out some old Sugar Hill stuff with Doug Wimbish on bass. Two favourites are "That's The Joint" by Funky Four Plus One and "Freedom" by Grandmaster Flash And The Furious Five.
