Holy s%^$ never thought I'd see once opon the cross named best album...but its cool I have that one. I actually think Legion is the best Deicide album.

Since I'm listening to it now...the best album ever is Decipher by After Forever.

Why are there no AFTER FOREVER fans on here?!?!

Hmmm I wouldn't have put a single one of those albums on my list. It could likely be my most disliked albums of all time list, except maybe Primus. . When a band's focus is completely set on pushing an agenda, whether it be political, religious, etc, I find it hard to interest myself in their music. I don't think I'd put a lot of Rock on my greatest albums list although I listen to a lot of it. Are we talking stricly greatest Rock albums?

Once Upon A Cross to me has everything one could ask for in a death Metal album and seeing how that is by far my fav style it is easy to see how I came to my conclusion. I have listened to it every day at least once for six years and I can say the only fault that I can point out is that it is only 28 mins long.

Maybe a bit too Therion for me. Going to check out their live video if I can. I like the recent Within Temptaton album and much prefer stuff like The Gatherin'g "Nighttime Birds" or "How To Measure A Planet?" to all of 'em. My 33 1/3c.

Have you heard TBer "De Teng"'s band? You might dig 'em. Hedone - Demo November 2004

As for the Top 20 list I've got to admit "Once Upon The Cross" has some catchy tunes, but like you I never thought I'd see it as a #1 ... anything. It had no longevity for me, but made for great driving around the city music the Summer I bought it.

The Celtic Frost album listed is stupendous, but in the cases of all the others I can think of albums/bands I much prefer in hooks in the styles.
well I applaud you for trying at least. I have/or intend to check out lesser-known bands you recommend on here too. Thanks.

Well, I'll throw out a couple, but my taste is hardly ground breaking and there are several genres not represented

...in no particular order...

1) Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals - Fight For your Mind
2) Fugazi - 13 songs
3) Sepultura - Arise
4) New Model Army - Thunder and Consolation
5) The Police - Regatta de Blanc
6) Metallica - Master of Puppets
7) Lifter - Melinda
8) Weezer - Pinkerton
9) Rage Against the Machine
10) Nirvana - In Utero
11) Slayer - Seasons in the Abyss
and who can forget 12) Jimmy's Chicken Shack - Pushing the Salmanila Envelope
