EDIT: By the way, how do people say that man has no groove?

I think he's got an amazing groove as well. I've never really understood it when pepole say he doesn't. Sometimes I get the feeling people knock him the same way they always knock those on top. Most of the time he's the featured player in the group so he's not playing material that really lets him just sit back in the music and feel it. If that's his role, he can do it as good as anyone I've heard (check out some of his stuff with the flecktones.)

i used to find him boring but now i can appreciate him more, but i dont dig his dumble thump ghost notes thingy though. I like his harmonics and groove in amazing grace.

Incredible bass player. Until I saw him the first time, I honestly didn't know that there were so many harmonics available on a bass.

I do think that he needs to buy some decent shirts. Every video I have seen him in he is wearing some awfully coloured shirt!

J.S. Bach is rolling over in his grave right now. Amazing chops; a little low on taste.

And yes I love bass solos stuff - I do them myself. And I do think Victor is an absolutely amazing player. I just think he resorts to Hollywood-showbiz-look-ma-no-hands-bass, and forgets about the music. Someone of his calibre could be doing something so much more profound and wonderful.

IMHO, of course. Everyone is free to enjoy tacky *&#$ if they want.

Now donning my Nomex suit and getting the fire extinguisher out,

Wonderful, magical, beautiful, and to refer to Bassflutes post, "profound and wonderful". Probably the best version of Amazing Grace I've heard him do, and with some classical thump thrown in! I must say, I've watched this solo so many times, and I'm still amazed by his groove and musicality. That little harmonic run he does at about 3:00 is just...well, thats why we know Victor as one of the best

Victor is a hell of a groover, he says the most important thinmg you need to learn is to groove, and then add the flashy stuff,

he calles the groove the cake, and the flashy stuff the icing.

That proves that hes a great groover...

When I saw the Flecktones in Kansas City in March, Victor did an 4/4 - 7/8 loop leading into the Mad Hatter Rides Again (song of Jeff Coffin's). Here's a video that is shows the band together, doing a similar routine. Enjoy.
