Gritty Pull-Back Sortof Blues Typically Heard In The Films Of [help me out here...]

I was playing with these 2 guys a couple of days ago; and they burst into this really gritty minor blues tune, with an extremely strong back-pull sort of triplet feel. at one point after the head, I started walking it, and this guy said "don't walk this one". later on he said it's kind of like the tunes from the something-something movies. it was some sort of italian name. sounded like pasta anyway... tortellini maybe. does anyone have a clue what I'm talking about?
