Growly groovin' Gospel bass playing?

Sign in to disble this ad
My fave kind of bass is funky growlin' basslines with a deep groove found in Black/Urban Gospel music. For example - Israel and New Breed's "Come In From The Outside" & "I Hear The Sound of a New Breed" from his Live From Another Level CD.

You know what I'm talkin' 'bout, big groove, growl, some thumb & a little bit of G string pop. YEA!

TBer's, please list some other great Gospel bass songs such as this?

check out Israel & New Breed's new one, Alive In South Africa. Also, Fred Hammond's Page's Of Life: Chapters 1 & 2. It's got I&NB's bassist (Terrance Palmer) groovin' down. Plus, the second disc is Live, it's really slammin. Hezekiah Walker has got some nice stuff too. I just got Love is Live!

If you like Old School Black Gospel, check out Andrae Crouch.

That's a big +1 for Fred Hammond 'Pages of Life' and Terrance Palmer. Also, in general, WOW Gospel hits compilations are a good choice, for starters.

Terrance Palmer is just sick! Dude knows how to lay it down! In another thread the discussion and question is "Is Funk A Dying Genre?" No! It's alive and well in the form of Black/Urban Gospel, IMO!!

everything that has been said here. Also, anything with Andrew Gouche playing.
I am absolutely in LOVE with modern Gospel music and would give anything to be a part of it.
