Guitar Pro users..please help me.

Is there a way Guitar Pro can detect the notes you are playing? Like, lets say I hit the 5th fret on the E string (A), I want guitar pro to put a 5 on their virtual E string. If guitar pro can't do that, what program can?

Of course, I'll have my bass plugged into my computer.
