Ha, This is by far the weirdest song I've ever recorded

I know in the other thread, I said I didn't want to start a thread about new stuff? Well, I got new new stuff. So I have two new songs

http://www.myspace.com/drrskt

"dv" is the one from the other thread, mega distorted multi bassed weirdness, synthy sounding, but that's just because the bass is beyond clipping. Don't worry, I mellowed it out production wise, it's actually relaxing in a weird sort of way (to me).

"rllfc" THIS is the one the thread title is refering to. I don't know man, it's weird. I recommend listening to all my stuff with good headphones, this one really kinda needs it. But don't listen to it too loud, the intro is kind of abrasive. It's Black Metal, but the vocals are kind of (ha, wait, did I say vocals?! yup) well, they sound like I'm a weird grimm zombie, ha. It's a parody, sort of, but... I don't know. It's the most diverse song I have.

The sample at the very end (terrifying) is from a record I found at the library called, "Bass evolutions" It's a man narrating as an upright bass. It has some of the weirdest spoken word I've ever heard, I had to sample some of it. I of course had to mess with the eq and add some reverb, of course of course.

Oh yeah, I should have an album or two soon coming out on a local DIY label. I'm going to splice together a lot of the tracks in a Can/Faust tape splicing kind of way, so it'll be more of the same, but different.

Who knows?

I really like DV; I think it's your best work so far. How did you do that?

Bass -> Double Muff (cranked) -> Wah (left stationary, but on) -> Rat II (just adding a little grit after the wah -> Digitech Jamman -> Mic'd amp, everything (but the volume) at 10 (gain, bass, mids, etc)

Mostly just clipping everything as hard as I can, and playing with my looper.

I like it! Btw, I see you've gotten a comment from "Kaada", he was big in Norway for a while and recorded an album with Mike Patton. Respect man

I like the beat after the intro in rllfc. It's a shame that there are no highs (presumably just because of the compression for streaming). I downloaded the one you've got up for download and it sounds fine and is pretty cool too.

So, am I to understand that this form of music is weird for the sake of being weird?

i like rllfc a lot. i didn't actually think it was that weird. you wound down into the spoken word at the end very effectively. very cool with a freaky ending!

i think dv is stranger by the way. not sure i could listen to this repeatedly. interesting though.

In a sense, yes, but more music for the sake of trying new things. New things are weird, so I guess, maybe. I'm not just trying to be weird, I'm trying to become a better producer, trying different techniques for different effects. Trying to make lo fi sound purposely lo fi at times (for dramatic effect). In reality, what this is, and what it has always been, is me writing songs with no preconcieved idea of what it is or what it will become. The results aren't always great, but I like doing music that is not preconcieved, but really studio based and layered. Sounds fake, maybe it is.

Thanks for the listens ya'll. P.S. That comment from Kaada is ********, and it makes me mad. He sent out a "bot" message that was (band name), superb. So everyone gets stoked and think Kaada digs their stuff. Lost respect for him there, he just wanted more people to check out his music.

It's kind of on purpose, because the next part has no true lows, so it's a strange tradeoff. Also, that beat, is me stomping the ground and clapping, but I compressed it super heavy, and it got that weird sound. I also wanted all the background noises to remain background, for a creepy lo budget horror movie feel.

No, it's not like, "Look at me; I'm so weird." You've just got to be the first to point it out so you don't look (too) pretentious. Noise music is a slippery slope in that way. We wouldn't be doing it if it was just to be weird and different though. It's just that we like it, even though it's weird.
