The Haiti Projekt - excellent prog rock charity compilation!

Sign in to disble this ad
Please let me tell you about a new charity project by the progressive rock community:

The Haiti Projekt brought together 40 bands or solo artists, among them such big names
as Neal Morse, Roine Stolt (with his new band Agents of Mercy), Andy Tillison (from
The Tangent), Dave Meros (from Spock's Beard) and IZZ. Many have contributed brand
new compositions or unique, previously unreleased versions of their songs. For just $20
you can download over four hours of prog music in CD quality or as high-quality mp3s!

All of the proceeds from this compilation will be donated to the Red Cross and its Haiti
aid efforts. We have already raised over $1500, but I'm sure that is just the beginning!

Honestly: I bought the whole package myself and have already bought half a dozen of
albums by bands that I didn't really know before who have contributed a song. It's a
really nice compilation and it's for a good cause, so you really can't go wrong with this!

4 hours of prog are like... 12 songs?

That sounds awesome. I'll buy the package.

I actually think it's a bit too much because the sheer amount of music makes it hard to associate band names with songs you hear. But if you have the time, it's really worth it!

Since many of the artists involved are not that well known, I'll list some of my favorites so far - I've ordered music by all those after hearing their tracks on The Haiti Projekt (or I liked them even before):
Mars Hollow
Shadow Circus
Supernal Endgame
The Healing Road
To-Mera

The exclusive tracks by Andy Tillison and Dave Meros are also very nice!

Time for an update:

Quote:
The Haiti Projekt reports the earnings through Aug 10...

Hello everyone. I wanted to let everyone know that I sent The Haiti Projekt money to the American Red Cross today. The totals are as follows and are current through this moment (Aug 10, 2010):

134 copies sold
$2,680.00 gross intake
$130.72 in PayPal fees
$2,549.28 net intake

I wrote the Red Cross a $2,600.00 check. Once I have a confirmation for the donation, I'll post a scan (for The Tsunami Projekt, they sent us a nice letter of thanks...).

Thanks to those who bought a copy. For those of you who have not, it is still available at http://www.thehaitiprojekt.com

Brian
