Help with Audacity/Zoom H2 *Mods please move to correct forum*

Sign in to disble this ad
Alright, so I searched around a bit and didn't find anything...

I've recorded with the Zoom H2 and imported the files into Audacity before without this problem.

I recorded me playing with a couple of friends for about 35 minutes continuously, and want to break up the tracks. I import the files to Audacity and they are just uber super loud distorted maxed out crap.

I'm able to play the files in iTunes and FooBar just fine, but when I load into audacity it looks like this

Any ideas?

Your gain input is too high.

This is also the wrong forum.

Alright, hopefully a mod will have the chance to move it then =/...

Is there anything I can do in Audacity to lower the gain on imported files?

Turn the gain down via the handy input slider on the main toolbar.

Or you could open up window's mixer and turn down the gain on whichever port you're using and turn down the output.

Or both.

I'm not recording with Audacity, the file is already recorded and I am importing the preexisting file into audacity to edit it....
