Help me find a song! "Devil and me?"

I saw an Americana band over the weekend called Texas Renegade. They were pretty good, and a nice unexpected addition to our camping trip to the river. Good times.

Anyhow, they played a cover that I really dug and I'm pretty sure it was called "The Devil and Me" or something like that. The lyrics were very dark, almost death metal like, lol. Something like a guy traded the devil a bottle of whiskey to take out some girl then he killed her (slit her throat) and burned her clothes with kerosene - really crazy dark stuff, but the song had a killer vibe (no pun intended). It sounded like a country song.

I've tried googling it in every combination I can think of and I just can't find it. Does that ring a bell to anyone? It's driving me nuts!

I heard "the Devil went down to Georgia" on the radio the other day and was impressed by the fact that the Devil's music was much more appealing - scarily funky and fusion-like!

While the other music was blandly "nice"...

If they have a myspace, you could shoot them a message.

Was it maybe Clutch- "The Devil and Me"?

I'm not sure if the lyrics fit, and you probably came across it on Google, but it's the first thing I could think of

Nope, not the Clutch tune, but thanks anyway!

I did send the band a message on Myspace, so now to see if they reply... It seems that if it was a cover, there'd be something about it on the web that Google could pick up on.

Considering how much, uhhh, "thirst quenching" we were doing last weekend at the river, I'm surprised I was even able to recall that much at the end of a Saturday night.

The other funny thing is that the only reason I figured the band was called Texas Renegade was because they were loading into a trailer with that name on it, but when I went to the website, the guys in the pics don't look like the guys that were on the stage. So...it could have been a borrowed trailer and the guys in TR might just be like "what's this guy talking about"

Oh well. If I find it, I'm gonna try to learn to play/sing it. It has a cool mean rockin' country vibe to it. I'm not a big country fan, but there are songs and artists here and there that I really dig. Of course country has almost as many sub-genres as metal, so there's something for everybody with an open mind.

Edit: the vibe kinda reminds me of Volbeat's "Sad Man's Tongue," which is an AWESOME tune!

Either that or the drummer has a side project that nobody knows about.
