Help me in my quest for trippy music!

Basically I'm just looking for some really out there stuff. An added bonus if you give a brief synopsis. An added added bonus if it has a lot of stoner/doom influence.
Spare me the Radiohead and Pink Floyd, I have most of what they have to offer....

My Bloody Valentine "Loveless" - TRIPPY doesn't even begin to describe this. There is some guitar heaviness, but overall, it's perfect music for alternating bong hits with shots of cough medicine*. I've played this for alt-rock, stoner rock, metal, you-name-it fans, and most of the time, they went out and bought the disc.

Most of the Butthole Surfers discography, but "Locust Abortion Technician" scared the fertilizer out of me the first time I played it. Open your mind, but NOT in the dark, and crank it.

Just discovered that it's out of print in the States, but put The Cure's The Top on your list.

It's trippy and dark.

You should try to check out Mr. Bungle. Three very trippy albums. Or maybe some of Buckethead's catalog.

Os Mutantes (Self titled Debut)
A Divina Comédia ou Ando Meio Desligado
Mutantes (Third Album)
Jardim Elétrico
Mutantes e Seus Cometas no País dos Baurets

I'd get them in about that order. Haven't heard Technicolor, but I think that's a Sergio Dias only record sans Rita Lee and Arnaldo Baptista.

While we're at it, The Return of Tom Zé is also very good that way.

Some really good suggestions here, thanks. Keep em comin!

I checked out Hawkwind a while ago, and I agree with Matt.
Also have a Groundhogs compilation album from about '69-'72. Good stuff there, although what's on it isn't quite what I call trippy. Can't speak for Split though.
Have a copy of the Arthur Brown album on vinyl, and I dig, nice groove to it.

Anybody else?

Well if Groundhogs aren't trippy, then check out Acid Mothers Temple... they are pure trippy.

Test Icicles - Kinda of punk, kind of artsy, kind iof industrial/experimental with a little pop. I saw the band name and had to listen after the first 2 tracks I was sold.

Torche - Stoner rock

Pelican - instrumental heavyness

Kyuss - best stoner rock ever

Dillinger Escape Plan - Crazy math music with lots of screaming and weird noise.

I've always thought that the whole album "Zooropa" by U2 is pretty trippy.

Porcupine Tree

When I was working at the 40watt club, I saw a trippy band called Porcupine Tree. I remember the bass player was great. Never bought one of their records. But it was definitely trippy with great bass playing.

If you wanna get your Dub on, then try anything by Twilight Circus Dub Sound System.

On the techno side: Aphex Twin and Orb. Also, vintage Klaus Schulze and Tangerine Dream.

Old Butthole Surfers, definitely. And the Boredoms have some really trippy albums.

Shoegazer (guitar trippy): Magnog, My Bloody Valentine, Acid Mothers Temple, Windy & Carl, Third Eye Foundation... actually, this compilation album blew my mind: "Monsters, Robots, and Bug Men: A User's Guide to the Rock Hinterland"
