Can anyone tell me what band I'm thinking of? They we're from the 60's/70's I believe. They consisted of a keyboard player, a bassist and a drummer who was also the lead vocalist. At least a couple of them wore some sort of glam style makeup. From what I remember of a live video of theirs, the bass player used a EB-2 style bass.
Talkbass, I call upon thee for help!

No make-up though and more than a trio by two. Of course The Band had Levon Helm...Ringo never was a lead vocalist.....I never have really listened to bands that wore make-up. Sorry, you got my best effort...

Pretty sure Lake used an EB-3, too.

BTW ELP didn't have a guitar player, just bass (Lake), keys (Emerson) and drums (Palmer).

Kidding, of course...
The Fender Six String Bass is cool too.

Talkbass, I call upon thee for help! | This I like! the first 2 that come to mind would be The Nice, Keith Emerson's trio (origianlly a quartet) And Brian Auger and theTrinity. Then as I'm thinking, the Soft Machine began as a trio. None of theses guys was "Glam" per se, but they did dress up for the show.We all did back then. Give me a little more time and I think I can come up with some even more obscure bands. |

| | | Not sure just how 'obscure' bands like Soft Machine & Gong are/were...fans of Alan Holdsworth knew 'em.

Virtually everyone in the Canterbury music scene played with them at one point or another, they were the opening band for Hendrix's American tour and Andy Summers was an early and short lived member of the band.
