Question Help! Name that tune

Please help me identify this song. Here's a short clip with the opening riff.

I've been looking for this song for probably 25 years. I remember liking it as a kid but *never* heard it again -- until game 5 of the Bruins-Canes series earlier this month. I was lucky enough to have the PVR going.

Sorry, you'll have to try to listen past McGuire and Miller. If you're a hockey fan like me you've probably developed the skill for tuning them out and will only hear the song.

Anyway, here it is. If you can ID it for me I'll be eternally grateful.

Ken

D'oh! All I can hear is harmonica. Is it "Take the Long Way Home"?

No, it's a funk/R&B/disco tune, pretty strong beat. I agree it's pretty hard to pick out of this recording. Good guess though, based on that one first note. I do think the riff is played on a harmonica.

Are there any vocals? Male? Female?
Is that the studio recording or a live band?

It almost sounds like "White Room"ish (Cream) chords...funk/R&B/disco with a harmonica sounds like War...the announcer DID mention Tower of Power...

You know...for a second or two, it sounded like "Flamethrower" from the J. Geils Band (album is Freeze Frame).
I recall my '80s Top-40 band attempting it...it's a "funky" tune & has the harmonica.

I re-listened...it's definitely "Flamethrower".

...and another "Rock" band with an '80s funky tune

If you like "Flamethrower", check out "Tip Of My Tongue" from The Tubes (Inside Outside...same album has "She's A Beauty").
