It's a lot of fun to play, and audiences love it. Win-win!

Anything by Henry Mancini is cool. There are a couple of other themes in the Pink Panther series that are cool too,not just the main.

The Henry Mancini School for Music and Art is about 10 minutes from my house, so he must have done something right!

Im in a "School of Rock" class there, and we play Pink Panther at shows and to warm up all the time. Its a good one.

I feel sure he meant "both silly and great" per the thread title.

As for DB vs. tic-tac vs. slab electric fingerstyle, who cares? It's not like a Ron Carter or Percy Heath tune.

Manicini was a genius. There is a wealth of great arrangements to his credit.

A lot of fun to play, lots of coolness. Good song to smirk to while you are playing.

Hours later, I got that too. Sometimes I'm slow, sometimes I'm slower.

I've done that tune live in a bar.

It's a full on win everytime.

Note:
I'm not talking about some snooty fern bar either. That song works for a bunch of rednecks and bikers just as well.

We ended up doing it because the line was a noodle lick of mine and the crowd kinda forced the tune from there.
