A little bit Motorhead, a little bit Slayer, all good.

I picked thi up today on the advice of the guy who's been selling me music for five years now, never lets me down. For example, he would never advise me to purchase a 36 Crazyfists CD. Just as an example.

Anyway, check them out, they rock.

I saw www.metaljudgement.com gave them 5/5, which is unusual for that site as they are generally pretty tough. I havent been able to find it in Australia yet, but I will....oh yes....I will...

Man...You need to track down the album "dopesmoker" by Sleep. Some of the members went on to form high on fire. That album is the single heviest thing I've ever heard. The album is one 67 minute long song. Crazy!

I will track it down. Is it commercially available?

IMO, it's not a given that High On Fire fans will dig Sleep. High On Fire is considerably more focused. I do think you'd dig anything by "Firebird" though. http://www.riseaboverecords.com/firebird/ All their albums are great.
Cool, I will check those out too.

I don't need focus.

the Firebird samples sound great.

I wave both of my middle fingers about in your general direction.

I saw High on Fire at the Underworld in London in March'04. The dude plays a short scale Gibson flying V bass. Gut-churning is putting it lightly!

Incidentally, Mastodon were in support that fine evening... Value for money, right there. And I'm going to see them in a couple of weeks!

I was hanging out at the radio station the other night and one of the metal DJs played the new High On Fire cd. It was some hot something or other.

Just got it, and I gotta say, the Motorhead meets Slayer comment was dead on. Pretty good stuff.

I just got it today, and i dig it. I agree with the Motorhead/Slayer comparison as well.

The DVD that came with it was a nice suprise!

Sleep's Jerusualem album is for sale at the local FYE. It's 17 bucks though, is it worth it?

Eeeh. I heard a few samples from it. That's the thing about all the obscure metal bands round these parts, when you find their stuff, it's hella expensive.

Matt, if you have the internet, nothing is expensive.
