Hi,
I am looking for Country music that is not too twangy, too patriotic, too redneck, something that grooves with some slamming drum tracks and good vocals. Is that too much to ask?
I'm more of an R&B Jazz/Latin guy but I want to broaden hy horizons a little. I do like bands like Rascal Flatts and Lonestar.
Can someone turn me on to some other bands like that?

Try some Darius Rucker (Hootie), also Blake Shelton has some good stuff.

I'm a big fan of the Zac Brown Band. Also, Brad Paisley. Those bands are filled with great players. The songwriting is a little hokey, but that's what makes it country music!

+1 to Zac Brown and Brad Paisley. Some of their stuff is a little hokey. I saw Zac Brown down in DC last year and they covered RATM "Killing in the Name of" and rocked the ever loving crap out of it. I would also Jason Aldean.

Sixwire, I remember that band from some king of talent show. They were so good that it seemed they didn't belong there. They still didn't win, I don't understand that.
I remember they played a really cool version of Michael McDonalds I keep forgetting.

They've got a new album in the can, too. It should drop this summer.
