Exclamation Hiromi Live DVD's!

Sign in to disble this ad
Check out this link!

Hiromi has two different live DVD's now available through her webshop. One from the Spiral Tour with the trio and another from the Beyond Standard Tour with the quartet.

From what I hear they'll be available in the states in early 2009. I've also heard that they're Region 0 so if someone didn't want to wait, I guess they could get them now. Not cheap though at around $48 per DVD with current exchange rates. I could be wrong there though..

I just can't wait to see them!

Anyone see these or plan on picking them up soon?

Very interesting. I'll keep my eye out for that. Especially since I missed her when she passed through LA last time.

I love her stuff, but $45 is pretty pricey for a DVD....I'm blown away by the prices here.

Yeah, very pricey for sure. Hopefully the pricing is much more reasonable when they arrive stateside.

It sucks that I'll have to order them from there, even though I live here....

Do want. It's so refreshing to see a Woman who can really REALLY play. It sucks that every female who can play is just compared to other women and judged upon appearance. "she's cute and she can play too" seems to be the most common saying.

Anyways.

Check out the YouTube clips for both DVDs - they're absolutely amazing in both sound and video quality, and I as well cannot wait for them to be released... stateside. $45 per DVD is to rich for my blood right now...

Very cool! You know, I'm one who always gets excited about these releases, takes the plunge for the big bucks, and then sees the same thing on Amazon 6 weeks later for 1/3rd the price.

So, I'm going to take a deep breath, and search Amazon for these DVD's in August

And FYI... Chick, Stanley and Lenny are touring the US next year! That should be cool, especially if it's a somewhat straight ahead sort of acoustic thing.

Who are the players on those youtube clips? Very cool stuff. I had her first album at one time but it disappeared somewhere along the way?

Never mind, found out, pasted from amazon:

Hiromi's supergroup, Sonicbloom, has shattered the formula of making records written solely by the celebrated pianist/composer. Their latest outing, "Beyond Standard," finds Tony Grey (bass), Martin Valihora (drums), and Dave "Fuze" Fiuczynski (guitar and otherworldly sounds) helping Hiromi craft unique versions of familiar tunes such as Gershwin's "I Got Rhythm," Rogers & Hammerstein's "My Favorite Things" and even Jeff Beck's "Led Boots."

I just got these and they are both really good - but the trio one (without Fuze) is my fave - it's a great band and the three of them sound great together - plus Tony goes a bit wilder in his solos - which I dig... well worth tracking down if you can find them.

I've always preferred the trio as well. I feel they are "themselves" a lot more in that environment. I love to hear Tony stretch out on his Fodera and it just doesn't happen as much with Fuze.

Spiral may be my favorite Hiromi recording of all. The last album they did as a trio oddly enough..
