I've just found this video of a pro recording from David's excellent 2008-2009 tour and the bass tone is phenomenal! What do people think he is doing here? It looks like a five string Jazz Bass of sorts, maybe active? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVme7RpTypw
His playing is also rather tasty, with some brilliant fills. He has a very different style to Tina Weymouth and really makes the song his own.
