how can i re-create tommy cogbill's sound on 'son of a preacher man' (dusty)

its such a gorgeous sound and one, i think, that epitomises the motown sound...along with jamerson of course

i have a fender precision deluxe which im pretty sure would be able to get close to it...any ideas????
