The tune- "Some Fool's Mess" by Gallon Drunk. From their album You, the Night... and the Music, one of my all-time fave records.
I believe it's a Fender Jazz Bass, but that's my only hunch. There's definitely some sort of overdrive going on. Not sure it's from an amp, a pedal, or what. I figured that maybe someone might recognize this as a tone they can easily get (e.g., "that's easy, it's just a jazz bass with ___ strings being played through a ____ head with the ___ turned all the way up" etc.). But any theories or ideas are welcome.
