How does my bass tone sound in this recording?

I've posted our stuff here before, but we recently finished doing final touches and tweaks from the EP version of "The Beginning" to the one we're going to release on the final CD.

www.tetrafusion.net

That is my band's website, I was just wondering how the tone sounded on the bass on the intro of "The Beginning". It should be the first thing that plays.

MySpace quality can be embarassing, so if it's an issue try listening to it at www.betarecords.com/tetrafusion , where I was actually able to upload the 320kbps version rather than the 96kbps for MySpace.

Thanks...was just looking for some critique on my tone. We have a show in a month and I was just trying to see how I might be able to recreate it live with my rig rather than the DI / ProTools tone editing we used.

Feel free to check out the bass on any of the others too.

I use a Cirrus Peavey BXP 5 with slightly worn out EB Hybrid Slinkys. I tried DRs for awhile and hated them. I'm thinking about trying some TI's next though.

fits the genre well i think, pretty cool, I personally go for midrange myself too, more cutting. I really like it though. Those recordings are sick dude.

I think it fits fairly well, but like the others, I feel when the other instruments come in your rather drowned out..perhaps boost the mids a bit. Liked the song..

The first track reminds me of something on the Art Metal album...but yeah! The tone suits the songs brilliantly doc - usually I'm not a fan of plectrum sounds, but Justin Chancellor and yourself are now my exceptions and if you're happy with it, who cares? Thanks for posting it up

More mids!! The keys in Inertia is really cool! All 4 songs are solid, good work. To you and your bandmates.

Thanks guys. So more mids huh? Do you guys think that would be more achievable by new strings or perhaps different strings? Or is it stricly in the way we EQ'd it? We have a few more songs to record so I can keep midrange in mind for them.

Dude, don't listen to any of that crap. Your sound is great, the only thing it needs is a little more midrange

Yeah I agree with everyone else. It sounds ok, but as a bassist I'd like the notes to be a little more distinguishable. I think a bit more mids would help.

Cool tone for the genre. I usually tell people to add mids, but I don't think you need to for that song.
