How does this sound?

Alright, everyone who has heard my band's song "Puns About Cars" says it sounds like Old Chilis. Does it?

WARNING: EXPLICIT LYRICS!

I've also heard that it sounds like 80s Will Smith.
But I'm just looking for bassist opinions.

On an unrelated note, how's the bass tone, and what do you guys think of the other songs?

Setup for Puns About Cars:
Yamaha BB404 with EMGs and D'Addario Chromes flatwounds through an overdriven guitar amp, then mixed into Garage Band

sounds like you lost some low end with that guitar amp, it's not bad but what if you mixed in some direct bass to fatten it up?
vox sound a little sloppy?

Vox are sloppy because I'm white and trying to rap and play.

and yeah, I'm gonna mix in a direct signal when I get my amp back.

It's kinda quirky, but its really funky and I actually liked it. I've written a couple songs like that myself, so I know where its coming from if you know what I mean.

reminds me a bit of Cake...only much sloppier
I think you should get a DI for your bass, as the bass frequencies seem lacking

To my ears-

Something sounds off about the vox. It seems like it might need a pop filter or the mic channel is clipping.

Everything seems to compete for the same space of midrange. It might seem less cramped if the bass has some bass to it, and if the guitar sounds fuller. Even on boomy speakers, everything sounded thin.

Hihat/cymbals are a bit shrill and thrashy for my taste, but some people like the lofi/thrashy thing a lot.

I can't hear the kick that clearly, it sounds like it might be a bit too muddy. Maybe cut a little somewhere in the lower mids (possibly in the 150-300 hz range), and boost a little of the attack/slap of the kick (usually 3-5k-ish).

I think the snare could use some more snap. Maybe try playing with a compressor.

The room doesn't really sound warm and pleasant to me. Where was everything recorded? To me, it sounds like a garage with mattresses on the wall. I think if you used a room with a lot more natural reverb the drums would open up a lot more. Be wary of how the room sounds when you mic things.

But everyone perceives sounds differently.
