Question How Large Is Your CD Collection?

Sign in to disble this ad
Please excuse me if this has been done before. I did a bunch of searching, but didn't find anything...

Anyways. I went thru, and using google docs (which are awesome btw) I made a spreadsheet/database of all the CDs I own.

1135.

Thats right. One Thousand Thirty Five.

How big is your's? Your CD collection that is. Lets keep this above the waist!

http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?k...eIFWJCl_4FaQOQ

The # of CDs is derived from adding up all the cells in column C, which are all 1, using the sum function. You can add 'em up for your self if you want

The advantage with this list is that when ever I get a new CD, I just add it to the bottom and sort it again. I figure the stuff in column B will stay where it is cus I doubt that there are many bands that start with "!"

Okay, I don't have that many, but I have well over 700 physical CDs and many albums of purchased music. If live boots count, then I've got hundreds of hourse of Crowded House and Finn-related music.

Not sure how many CD's but I do have 12,889 songs on my 80Gb Ipod. Had to remove about 300, ran out of room.

Somewhere between two and five.

All of my music is of the digital download variety. At present, I am loving Amazon's high-quality, non-DRM, MP3 offerings. I do have a bunch of burned discs for the car (haven't caught up with technology there yet) but I don't buy prerecorded music on CD format.

The only ones I have are from a couple of local indy artists.

I do have a shoe box full of older cassettes though.

Over 6000, not including 1000's of vinyl LPs. But I'm old and have been buying music for forty years.

All my music is digitized. I have about 250 GB, about 3 months of music if I were to play it all start to end.

1400? That's a rough guess. I wrote a little database for them, but got too lazy to enter data.

same deal here. according to my Excel spreadsheet, it's just over 5300, but that thing hasn't been updated in over a year, and every month I buy/sell about 50 CDs & LPs, so it's probably closer to 6000 now.

Haven't played a CD in years. Couple of hundred, maybe. Used to have about 1000 LPs. Now I've got 9235 (41.7 GB) mp3s. . . about 3 weeks before repeating.

There's !!! (pronounced chk chk chk) and ˇForward, Russia!

I'd say I have about 300-350 physical cds, many more digital, and probably a few hundred vinyl records I've adopted from my dad and uncle.

I've got 4 huge rubbermaid tubs (4' x 2' x 2' each) in my closets full of CDs I've ripped to my PC since I started using my PC as my media center in 2000. That plus a LOT of downloaded concerts, MP3 releases from independents (cdnow, cdbaby) and Amazon (just recently started buying downloadable stuff from them).

I've added everything to Foobar2000...

That's pretty much the same reasons I started a spreadsheet for mine in Excel. I kept going to the store, buying a CD or LP, and realizing when I got home that I already owned a copy. I started carrying a CD with the spreadsheet on it to the store, and since I used to work there, they let me open it up on the comp up front to check it before I pay for anything. I've also used it for a paper I wrote in business management on how to organize inventory. I used the sort function to sort them by Artist, Title of album, Record Label, Year of release, and by Format(CD, LP, 45, 78, Cassette, and 8 Track-yes, I still own some of those)

No idea about the CDs. My iTunes says it has 1759 "albums" in the form of 20500 songs taking up 126.59 GB. I still have a lot of CDs I never bothered to import and obviously there's a lot of stuff that is download-only.

There was a time I could say that I've heard EVERYTHING in my collection but that isn't true anymore. Kinda nice to be able to find surprises though.
