| | | | How many versions do we need? of MP

My daughter is named after one of my favorite songs of all time, and actually my wife and I were listening to it the night we met, and I joked "if I ever have a little girl, I'd love to name her __________". 11 years later we had her and we didn't even discuss girl names during her pregnancy.
I have since collected 7 versions of the song (still searching) that I plan to give her on her 18th birthday (15 years to go)
So for Father's Day, I decided to do the same with my Dad's all-time favorite song "MacArthur Park"....I found 51 versions!
Fifty One!!!!!
I made him a card that read "it's not a cake, it's a relationship" and it is now the only CD in his vehicle.
Mom is P.O.'d at me bigtime!, I love the Donna Summers version, but let me tell you there are a ton of simply crappy versions of MP. And Dad was offended when I read him the line from "How the Fender Bass changed the world" that read:
*Joe (Osborn) also has the dubious distinction of having played his Hagstrom 8 String Bass on Richard Harris's overblown version of MP.*
So...what's your fav version?....(if there even is one). I hate to admit it, but with all the research I had to do for this project, I'm almost an expert on this composition now.
ps...any guesses as to my daughter's name? |
