Ive been playing around a year and a half now and loved this piece, not quite finished it all but i tried to scram a quick runthrough on camera with a wee intro, let me know what you think
also can anyone give me the name of the pedal jaco uses for this

yeah i know the notes but the ol' musicman sub-bass doesent really ring the 2nd and 3rd fret harmonics

I would focus on a couple of things:
1. The fretted bass notes. Listen carefully to the recording, you're playing more bass notes than Jaco. Cutting out some of those will add some space and slow the forward movement.
2. Practice getting those harmonics to ring more clearly. The bass will get those 2nd and 3rd fret harmonics if the player has the right touch. Remember, the closer you get to the nut the more accurate you need to be.
As for a pedal, Jaco didn't use one. Some players will use a subtle chorus to try and emulate his natural sound, but I don't think its necessary, and a lot of times a chorus will choke harmonics.
