"How to Stuff a Wild Bikini"

WARNING: GIRLS IN BIKINIS!

Hello,

Just got back a "directors cut" of my garage bands first music video. We're a First Wave Surf and Instrumental R-n-R band but I convinced the guy's to cover this vocal number by the band Tullycraft . My idea was a "tongue in cheek" take on the early '60's Beach movies - Frankie and Annette stuff. They weren't too keen until I told them it involved girls in bikinis!

The video only cost us a few hundred quid - food and drinks for the cast and crew, and a bottle of single malt for the editor.

Anyway, it's cold and snowy at present, but not in the video!

Merry Christmas

Cool vid... Girls in bikini's are always a plus! Nice tones, you have some awesome playing moves... Part of me thinks that with the pre-trailer content you'd want a more 'vintage' looking amp for the shoot, but then again, those original surf movies were more cutting-edge and are only 'vintage' in hind-sight... Speaking of "hind-sight", there were some nice cabooses on hand

Woo hoo! That was fun. Besides the obvious... love the matching jaguars, is that the gear you actually use for shows or was it just for the video?

I wish to marry the tattooed girl in the pink striped bikini.

Well, maybe not exactly marry...

Girls in bikinis.

Retro surf-sound.

Jaguar bass.

That whiny synth that somehow is the perfect mix of fail and epic win.

This has my vote.

Just great! Great video and nice sync with the action too. Kudos to the recording engineer and mixer.

Is there something missing here???

Addendum::: I went surfing around after watching a bunch of the SURFRIDERS and found another bass player - wearing white gloves.

Whatzatallabout!?

"Wild Bikini" - some answers

Guy's,

Thanks for your comments.

Yup, no cables! I intentionally wanted to capture the Beach Party movies - Dick Dale played on the beach with no visible means of amplification, never mind cables. I wanted to capture as much as we could of those old films - the fun, innocence, retro, and yes corniness - as best we could. No overt "rump-shaking" or any of the modern useage of girls in bikinis - not that there's anything wrong with that! ;-)

We pre-recorded the music via bedroom recording studio and just played along to the recording on the day. Of note, I hated the recording, so much so, that when the lead guitarist/engineer visited some mates in LA they tried to "fix" it but it was too late and would have thrown the editor off.

When we play live I usually just use the MB 210, but I also have a MB 115 that I sometimes add.

It was indeed a fun day/shoot - the negative was that the drummer - US Army, had a short notice 6month TDY to NATO and we had to resked the shoot until the Labor Day wknd. He drove back for the shoot but unfortunately we lost 1/2 our American cast - all US Military...mostly girls. The only American girl was "your girl" Vegas532, a 19yr Navy Petty officer from Texas! All the other girls were locals who were about to return to University - mostly 19-20yr olds.

The song was not in our set list - we play "traditional" surf of the instrumental style, but may have to add this in future.

Cheers,

Tom

Not sure about the "other" band: SURFRIDERS. I came up with the name almost two years ago as there weren't any bands currently playing/using it in the UK. We spell it "SurfRiders" - not sure where the other band is from. If my lead guitarist would only get off his duff and finish up our 6+ demos/recordings to which we already have video for, we'd be able to push them off/populate the YouTube page! lol

I just sent your hit-count up another few clicks. Ya know what I feel is very 'authentic' about the video?

The four-square cameo boxes.

Just like The Partridge Family, Gidget, The Flying Nun and The Brady Bunch cameo-intro to those TV shows, your video captures the tech-of-the-times by using that screen technique.

It creates the retro-appropriate nuances and screen slides and melts that makes it so real and seemingly like a time-warp to the 1960s.

Gotta go wax my board now <sniff> and that's a MAN-TEAR you see.

Great song and video
The only thing I see wrong with it is the Markbass amp looks totally out of place.
