I have seen the future of Funk....Black Joe Lewis...

Sign in to disble this ad
and it is right from the past -

Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears. James Brown meets Howlin' Wolf - Blues, soul, and funk all wrapped up in an old school package - these guys are great

Wow! This is great stuff! I think good new music is few and far between for me, but this stuff is pretty killer!

I liked it... But it sounds just a bit... "Forced" to me. I find Trombone Shorty to be much more entertaining.

Sugarfoot was getting some play on the "good" local alternative station here in town about a year ago.

While I appreciate what they're trying to pay homage to, I don't feel they've got as much talent as the originals.

Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears are really solid. True, it's very consciously retro and not something I want to listen to all the time. But I saw them live last summer at a street festival here and they put on a very good show.
