It's a recording my friend and I have been working on. I played bass, saxophone, and keys on it and he did the production and drum sequencing. I'd appreciate it if you let me know what you think, thanks.

Trevor Peterson - bass/sax/keys
Dan Comerchero - drums/production

wow, i like that a lot! snare's a shade too loud, especially the rim shots, but it's a hot piece. i'd keep it going and make a 3-4 minute song out of it.

Well done...maybe a touch more bass and as JimmyM said with the snare. It's very subjective, so I don't wanna say any more. I like it too. nice sax.. that's the stand out.

I like it.
I just find the drumms too busy.
Other than that...very nice.

Lots of cross rhythms, which are cool, except they could be a bit more relaxed/behind the beat, or maybe a bit less frequent. Makes it sound a little bit like the drums are stepping the the groove a little bit?

I love it, dude! That definitely deserves to be a song. I like how the drum rhythm of the drums is really layered and the sax just sits in there perfectly, not overplaying but still intricate. I say make it a song !

I like the song. Drums sit to strong in the mix though, and the bass is a little weak. This could be really great with the right mix!

This is fantastic! I do agree with the other posters - the drums could come down a bit to show off the bass work and the melodic textures of the synth/horns - but I'd love to hear this as a full 4 minute song.

I thinks its gots some real potential. If definitely qualifies as FUNKY- which is great.
The mix, as noted by others, could use some tweaking, lower drum volume might allow the drums to sit bettter with the bass. I'd also like to see this song expanded into a longer version. Songs this short that I really like make me feel "jipped"- in that I need to hit repeat.

Thanks again all, I should be back with a completed version of this track as well as some others in the same vein within the next few months and I'll be sure to keep your comments and suggestions in mind as we move forward.

Thanks man, it's a 1991 Modulus Quantum 5 string with Lane Poor pickups, and Thomastik Infeld strings (jazz bass model). It was recorded directly in to my friends Focusrite(I think?) interface.
