If you have an Mp3 player with a mic that works also. I have a Creative Zen Vision, and the quality is really quite suprising. The mic is about 1mm in diameter but it gets the job done.

Hi Spaz,

Basically, with recording into a computer, there's two main obstacles to get over:

1. Getting the bass into the computer's soundcard.

2. Having some kind of recording software to actually record it with.

I usually go straight into my soundcard (Creative SoundBlaster Audigy 2). Some soundcards have a 1/4" guitar cable input and you can plug straight into them, but then again a whole lot of soundcards don't (like mine), which means you'd have to buy an adapter at RadioShack or a local music store...you'll need to ask them for a 1/4" inch female mono to 1/8" inch stereo male adapter.

As far as recording software, there are a few free ones out there on the internet. Here's a link to some free ones I found http://www.pcmus.com/Free-Software.htm....I've never used any of these, so I can't say how good they are or how easy they are to use. Maybe some other TB'ers know of some more free ones. Hope this helps...

No problem....

There are other options and ways to do it too, some people (like me) buy a cheap little 2 or 4-channel mixer to plug the bass & maybe a drum machine (or whatever) into it, and then come out of that and go into the computer. It all depends on what you want to do...just some more ideas to think about. Please post some clips when you get it all going...

I picked up this cool little Fostex 8 track digital recorder for $250.00. I am still getting it figured out, but so far seems like a great value.
