I love my PS3....SACD

I just picked up a new Onkyo TX-SR606 receiver so I could utilize the lossless audio on my Blu-Rays. I figured while I was spending money that I might as well pick up a couple of SA-CDs, so I grabbed Dark Side of the Moon and Ziggy Stardust.

So far, I've only listened to DSOTM, but it was an outstanding experience. It was like listening to the album for the first time again. Very, very cool.

If I'm not careful, I'll have another outlet for spending money.

I need to grab some jazz before I lay off the SA-CD kick. I've heard that Kind of Blue is great on SA-CD, so I'll probably pick that up. Any other recommendations?

SACD (the correct way of typing it) is Super Audio Compact Disc, a dying format similar to the CD, with higher resolution audio. It was originally invented by Sony, who have long ago abandoned the format. There are still a few labels making discs, but they are rare, and mainly in the classical and jazz genres (more classical than jazz), and there are few standalone players, mainly your options are "universal" players (i.e. DVD-players, etc. that support multiple formats).

Heh--From that post, I get the impression that an SACD either kicked your dog, or stole your girlfriend.

I just got my PS3. I was pretty happy to find out that I can play SACD's on it. Now I need to go buy some.
