I'm re-recording the Stevie Wonder classic and I need details on how it was recorded. I've heard that Nate Watts used a 70's P bass....rounds or flats? Direct to the board or through an amp?
Any non-bass-related info is also appreciated. I need to make it sound EXACTLY like the original.
It sounds to me like a jazz with flats, and only neck pickup.
Lord knows it's flats, but the jazz I'm nae so sure about.
He usually played a jazz, from what I gather.
I've been playing this song for years, and I get a very close sound from fretless jazz with d'addario chromes.
I may be wrong, but I seem to recall an interview with Nathan Watts, where he said he used rotosound roundwounds.
Like I said though, I could be wrong.
