I need more Rush for my iPod. I already have Moving Pictures, Fly By Night, and a few other songs picked from other albums. But I need more

Edit: I forgot I had 2112...

I understand completely how you feel. One can never have enough Rush in their lives! You have 19 studio albums and 5 live albums to go. Good luck and good hunting!

We need a support group thread for those of us waiting for the new Clockwork Angels album. I mean, it was supposed to be out early 2011, they teased us with two songs, and then they extended the Time Machine tour. Now the release is forecast for 2012. I'm dying over here!

Last Christmas we had a gift exchange in my office, and one of the women got me the Fly By Night CD (we each made a wish list, and I have this only on vinyl). She knows absolutely nothing about Rush, but as soon as I opened the gift I shoved it in my CD player and blasted Anthem through the office at max volume.

Whenever life sucks, play some Rush.

Yes. And if you get Hemispheres, you have to get Farewell To Kings. And Permanent Waves, of course.

Well, get to buyin'!

Should I get the full albums or are there just songs I should pick out?

Rush is one of those bands that you usually get the entire album.

On vinyl.

With all the original cover art and notes.

Also, get a T-shirt and some posters.

And since you play bass, get a Geddy Jazz bass.

And a Ric.

And don't ever grow up. If you're girlfriend can't stand Rush, find another girlfriend.

HEMISPHERES
CARESS OF STEEL
PERMANENT WAVES
FAREWELL TO KINGS
All the World's a Stage (live album)

Get the entire album of each. That way you get the epics, which are the centerpieces.

Also try:

Signals
Exit Stage Left (live album)

Heck, all Rush is good.

Where to start?

Signals
Hemispheres
Permanent Waves
Grace Under Pressure
Power Windows
Test For Echo
Counterparts
Feedback (a cover album with Rush's version of some great classic songs)

Those are just the ones off the top of my head.

A Farewell to Kings was the first Rush album I bought in high school and it's still my favorite. It wasn't the kind of landmark album that 2112 and Moving Pictures were, but it's a very cohesive album. And it has a good mix of long, fairly ambitious songs and a handful of shorter "pop" songs.
