I noticed that there's a lot of bassist here at TB who are quick to bash, attempt to discredit, search for a fight(because they may have issues with a fellow TBer),not able to admit that they don't under stand certain questions, always criticizing, etc.

If you're so quick to do these things why aren't you so quick to put up some of your own work for others to hear? especially those that you attack.

Where is the music?

Most of the people you're talking about don't post their own work for a reason.

Here's some of my stuff:

Acoustic Blues
Blues
Jazz Trio

I think some of the bashing might stem from an influx of youtube users who constantly bicker on youtube about who the best bassist is.

TB seems to be getting close to being worse than Youtube.

Yeah, but on the otherside, everyone should be allowed an opinion, I mean, just because I don't like Jazz, I shouldn't have to hear, "well, lets hear you do better!" You know I don't like it for a reason, why would I spend years studying it just to prove I dislike it.

I actually like some Jazz, but that was the easiest way to make my point.

Most of the posts I've read have been really helpful especially about gear and such. Instead of slamming other players we should be glad that people are out there making music and contributing something positive to the world. There is always going to be somebody better or faster. Some guys will be mediocre players their whole lives but at least they are playing. Both my kids (girls) are now playing multiple instruments at ages 7 & 9 and I know that it will help make them well rounded adults. Music improves life play on!!!

Opions are awesome and most welcome them but I'm refering to the bashers. Have you ever seen a basher or some one that has negative comments put any of there music up on TB for any one to hear.

It's not about what type of music we play and again opinions are welcome from most of us here but bashing because they have some personal agenda says a lot about them.

Oh yeah

You know Jauqo, I have been tempted to let fly a couple of times in the past but common sense always seems to prevail. I usually tend to wait for a couple of minutes before actually submitting a reply, and that tends to iron out any rash statements.

I wish I could say the same about myself!

It looks like people are posting their stuff to this thread, so I added some links in my previous post.

I enjoy the art of intellectually defending a position, and with civility. If I have come across as a basher at any point, I take this great opportunity to apologize.

And here's some stuff -

Where is the music?
Truly curious, Jauqo - do you have to be a world-class chef to say that some prepared dish does not appeal to you? Do you have to be a vintner/degreed oenologist to say that a certain wine tastes like vinegar?

Why should someone be required to be a skilled musician to say that he doesn't like someone else's music, or that a musician is not credible, or have the right to criticize the music?

There are plenty of legitimate critics for all sorts of topics without personal skill in those areas. That doesn't mean they're wrong in what they say. Everyone has an opinion on everything and everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion... That's what so great about forums like Talkbass

I'm not much of a bitterman hater, but I'll play.

http://myspace.com/camorramusic

http://myspace.com/slampsquatch

Some of my playing sucks (not brutal though) and the tempo is suspect. But I like the tunes (Isn't that what matters?).

Dave one does not but there is a difference in negative criticizing and bashing but at some point it still comes down to the bashers and critics having to shut up or put up, especially when they have the balls to jump at every opportunity to be so negative.

Yeah, but now every thread where someone seems to have a different opinion, you get called a basher, I mean bashers are bad, but we should be allowed opinions.
