You ever have an album that one day just clicked with you. You'd listened to it a few times and went "meh." Then one day, everything made sense?...

Fates Warning "A Pleasant Shade of Grey."

O.... M.... F.... G....

So good, so very very good. I don't know why I didn't love it from the start. I'd listened to it 3 times and it was OK, but I listened to it yesterday and it blew me away.

Between this and Meshuggah, I'm becoming a prog metal kid... oh boy.

I didn't get Primus... until I took the up the bass.

What about you guys/gals? This ever happen to you.

Yes it has. Strangely with one of my favourite bands. I've loved all of Iron Maiden's work the first time I'd heard it, except for one CD. At first, I didn't understand why everyone thought 'The Number Of The Beast' was so great, and then one day (while listening to '22 Acacia Avenue') it clicked. Man that's a good record. Maybe even a little better than 'Piece Of Mind'. It's been in my CD player non-stop for the longest time.

Peace,
Graeme

This happens all the time. Some albums that this happened with me were Sex Mob's 'Solid Sender', Soul Junk's '1956' (superb - former member of Truman's Water), Tom Waits' 'Mule Variations' (that was my whole Tom Waits turning point)....hmmm..that's all I can think of now.

Happens to me all the time with albums:

Katatonia - Viva Empitness (definately the best rock/metal album of 2003 by a long shot)

Frank Zappa - The Best Band You Never Heard In Your Life

are a couple of examples...I agree that APSOG is a top album...but Messugah prog metal? pft!

I'm still working on getting Pink Floyd.

By "working on," I mean not listening to them whenever possible.

Contraband by Velvet Revolver. The first few times I just thought it was a decent cd. After listening to it a bunch, it really grew on me and I can't get enough of it.

In secret though he harbors that in his heart and loathes you for it. It boils and seethes in a steamy cauldron of hate and malice, slowly consuming him from the inside out. He WILL get you, Benjamin Strange....oh yes.

I agree. Alot of my friends think they are just the best. But I never understood what the big deal is. I like some of the blues guitar solos. But other than that..........

We be tight.

Now, if I should, say, mention I intensely dislike Rush, I think I'd be summarily dismissed from Talkbass.

Oh, wait...
