"If I Needed Someone" McCartney and East bass demo

Here are two versions of the same tune, separated by 26 years, with its composer performing on both. The first is the familiar 1965 version off of Rubber Soul with Sir Paul presiding on bass. The second is off of George Harrison’s 1991 live tour CD with Nathan East. Notice how the existing chord structure is re-emphasized by East, following the "G" chord in place of Paul’s pedal “A”.

As always, use headphones.

Very nicely demonstrated. East's version pays homage to the original while embellishing it in an appropriate way. I enjoy your recordings, keep it up.

Great renditions both. And thank you for the wonderfully informative YouTube channel. So many gems very tastefully and thoughtfully presented. I hope you'll forgive me for also saying that it is inspiring to see such fretboard agility from someone who (like myself) is not blessed with Jaco-like hands and fingers!

Any chance of you cranking up that Sidewinder pu in one of your videos?

Thanks guys.

I bought this bass second hand on March 17,1971. I plan on posting a vid this St. Patrick day to commeorate "our" 40th anniversary with a demo of its pup wiring and "Norwegian Wood".

In addition to being 5 ft.6, the supination in both of my forearms is limited (kept me out of the army). If you notice, I have a great deal of tension in my arm when I'm back by the nut.
