Question If you like John Mayer Trio then you most probably like....

All,

John Mayer Trio and "TRY!" (the recording with Pino Palladino and Steve Jordan) is pretty much the type of band I'd love to play with if I could choose only one and only one.

The energy of Steve, the tasteful yet rich playing of Pino combines with the guitar/voice of John seem to be the spicy and hot ingredients. I especially love the way they interprete hendrix covers (wait until tomorrow, bold as love) and "good love is on the way".

I would love if they released other 100 albums along that music style. Meantime, what are the listening suggestions for something similar apart from the usual suspects ? I'm especially looking for some hidden jem (at least John Mayer Trio was a hidden jem to me)

I have already down in my "modern" blues & blues-rock collection:

SRV
Cream
Clapton
Derek & Dominos
Allman Brothers
The Black Crowes
Led Zeppelin
The Faboulous Thunderbirds
Joe Bonamassa
Susan Tedeschi
Jason Ricci
BB King

among others...

If you like that John Mayer Trio stuff, then I would put Rory Gallagher at the top of my list. Go get the Live in Europe disc and enjoy!
