have you made it big time?

Just had this video response to one of our songs on youtube. I think it's pretty cool.

I would be flattered, especially since I like composing my own "beats" in my spare time. But are you being compensated if they make money off you?

That depends on whether the rap artist is a decent, reasonable human being, or just a niggardly* thief who enjoys crushing souls and dreams in his/her spare time.

These days, IIRC, the law is on the side of the original musician - however, unless you have plenty of dough to retain a good entertainment lawyer (or the other guy has lots of dough that can be taken away from him), you likely won't get any results.

...good for you though, alapantera! Both the original and the response are pretty hip.

*- Please note that the term 'niggard' is not related in any way other than coincidentally with that other evil word.

No really, it isn't. Look it up.

I really doubt they're going to make any money off of us. At this stage in the game, if it can (potentially) get more people listening to our stuff, great! If they start making heaps money off of this, then we'll cross that bridge when it happens. I think right now getting credit on the track, and more listeners, is more important.

I totally agree. I think the recognition and credit is important. And it's always cool to collaborate with other musicians and artists.
